The Jr. Entrepreneurship Training Program

PHASES OF THE JR. ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

PHASE 1: THEORY

1. WHAT IS BUSINESS? WHAT ARE ENTREPRENEURS?

2. HOW TO PROFIT FROM YOUR PASSIONS?
Students learn what their gifts, talents, etc. are and are challenged to create a business plan around them.

3. HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR MARKET(S)?
Students are taught how to identify their focus populations/demographics and how to solicit their products and/or services to them.

4. HOW TECHNOLOGY/SOCIAL MEDIA CAN GIVE YOUR BUSINESS AN EDGE!
Students are taught how to effectively use the internet/social media as powerful tools for marketing, advertising, and e-commerce.

5. FINANCIAL LITERACY
Students learn the importance of personal finance and basic banking services. They are also taught the “ABCs” of Checking/Saving/Investing/Credit, and Money Management.

The Dr. McNair Club Program

The Dr. McNair Club is a 6 to 12-month “STEM-Mentor” program designed to provide interested McNair HS students and beyond -- from low-income, traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds typically underrepresented in STEM majors -- supplementary training to strengthen their reading and math skills. In addition to this, enable them to further demonstrate scientific rigor, develop confidence, and pursue their interest in STEM fields -- especially in physics, aeronautical, and agricultural science. The program typically takes place after school. The McNair Club was inspired by the life of Dr. Ronald McNair, PhD and The McNair Scholars Program.
